Way back in November, we went on a school visit to the Openzone @ The Word in South Shields and we had such a fantastic time with all things technology! When we arrived we were allowed to colour in some lovely pictures, however this was no ordinary colouring in. Once we were finished, we used an app on the iPad to make our pictures come to life. It was incredible!
After that, working with a partner we were challenged to follow instructions and programme Blue-Bots so they would move around special Blue-bot mats. This was a little bit tricky at first and we had to revise left and right directions… but we managed eventually.
It got a little bit crowded when we were programming Blue Bots so one group at a time we went into the film room to record and star in our very own film! Each group chose a different nursery rhyme to sing and Amanda filmed us. She then edited the filming and put all the videos together to make one big film. It was amazing, we felt like we were in a real film studio – like super stars! Just ask us for our autographs…
Even lunch time wasn’t boring! We got to have our lunch in the 360 story room with Santa’s little helpers. They were super busy getting ready for Christmas.
Then, on the afternoon we got to play with some brand new touchscreen laptops. We created simple animations of the Gingerbread Man using the software 2Paint. It was surprisingly easy and very fun.
Sadly, our day ended far too quickly but while we were waiting for the bus we popped into the Ridley Scott exhibition. We saw the terrifying Alien creature except the only person that got a shock and was scared was Miss Lawson!
