Learning from Home Support

8th January 2021Natalie Jewitt

There has been lots on social media about using games consoles to access home learning and our friends at ICT in Schools, who are based at The Word in South Shields, have produced this brilliant guide explaining how to use them.

Download (PDF, 116KB)

Their website is also worth a look for any other support you may need with technology, or if in doubt, do what I do, I ask my youngest daughter!

Year 3 Home Learning Guide

5th January 2021Bell

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope you are all well and would like to outline our ideas / expectations regarding remote learning over the coming lockdown. The majority of the work will be issued to the children through Seesaw. We have also put together a timetable which should be followed. We are following the Y3 National Curriculum so remote learning will be structured with work required to be submitted each day by 5pm.

We have tried to break into shorter tasks as we appreciate there will be constraints against this. During the school day there should be somebody available to support you with any queries or advice you may need. We will be contactable via Seesaw or e-mail so please do not hesitate to contact us or for the children to contact us.

The children were given a yellow/red home learning folder in October for a situation such as this. In the pack you should find all of the children’s log in codes for various packages that the children could use such as Lexia, Mathletics, Purple Mash and MyOn reading. On the weekly timetable we will give a guide as to what day children should use these packages.

Also in the packages there are two exercise books, a blue covered book for writing activities and a green covered book for mathematical activities. If the children decide to use these books for lessons could they please put in a date, title and continue with their already neat presentation as this will make it easier for us to provide feedback of their work. If they complete an activity in the exercise books they must upload the photograph of their work to Seesaw.

Throughout the whole of the lockdown we will  be trying to keep the work as close as possible in line with school expectations as we don’t want children to miss out on their education. It is important that they attempt all work assigned to them on the respective day  and hand it in on time.  If there are any issues anytime please contact us in the usual way and we will be happy to help.

We can be contacted vie Seesaw or e mail sbell@ashley.s-tyneside.sch.uk and kroyal@ashley.s-tyneside.sch.uk

Thanks for your continued support and I’m sure we will get through this together

The Y3 teaching team.
