There has been lots on social media about using games consoles to access home learning and our friends at ICT in Schools, who are based at The Word in South Shields, have produced this brilliant guide explaining how to use them.
Their website is also worth a look for any other support you may need with technology, or if in doubt, do what I do, I ask my youngest daughter!
From 5.1.21, please check Seesaw daily (Mon-Fri) to access work for your child. If you experience difficulties with Seesaw, please do not hesitate to email your child’s teacher:

Any families self-isolating may find some useful information from our friends at The Openzone:
As a school we use the Google Suite for Education to help us in school and out of school. After experiencing remote learning before the summer holidays we have all worked hard to embrace new technologies.
We would like to remind children (and parents) that when you are logged onto our school website and using the tools which are available to you that it is solely for school work.
Conversations should be related to school and work which you have been asked to do by your teachers.
It is an amazing tool and should be used with respect.
Here is a link to some You Tube videos which may help when using Google.
Tech Toolkit for Families and Guardians
As always our school website has advice and links for all technology related issues in the e-safety tab.
Responsible Computer and Internet Use
At Ashley Primary School we use school computers and internet access for learning. The following rules will help us to keep everyone safe when using this technology.
* On the school network, I will only use my own login and password which I will keep a secret at all times.
* I will not look at, or delete other people’s files.
* I will not bring external memory drives or USB Memory Sticks into school without permission and will not use these on school machines.
* I will ask permission before entering any website, unless my teacher has already approved the site.
* When using the school website I will only use my own login and password which I will keep a secret at all times.
* I will only email people I know, or who my teacher has approved sending them appropriate and polite messages.
* I will ask permission before opening an email or an email attachment sent by a person I do not know.
* I will not use internet chat.
* If I see anything I am unhappy with or receive messages I do not like, I will tell a teacher immediately.
* I understand the school may check my computer and email files and may monitor the internet sites I visit.
* I understand that if I deliberately break these rules, I could be stopped from using the internet and computers.
Hello Year One!
This is our last Learning from Home post for this academic year. We can’t believe that we have reached the end of Year 1 and will be breaking up for the Summer holidays this week. You have all been amazing this year and we are very proud of you all. We are really looking forward to being your teachers again in Year 2 and can’t wait to have you all back together in our new classrooms learning lots of new exciting things. We hope you have a fantastic Summer holiday and get to spend lots of time playing and having fun. We’d like you to keep up with your reading and we would love to hear about the books you read this Summer. Let us know how you get on and if you can then send us a photo of yourself reading your favourite book maybe on holiday, on the beach or in the garden. We will share our photos in class in September. Most importantly stay safe, have a lovely break and we look forward to welcoming you back in September.
Take care

Hello Year One!
We hope you are all well and have had a great week. The children who have been coming into school had two surprise days at home this week because we had no hot water. This means we will be continuing with our work about The Magic Train Ride next week. We will revisit under the sea and outer space as well as looking at station 4 the magic wood and station 5 the land of cakes. Here are some activities you might like to try at home. Don’t forget the story is on YouTube.
• Have a go at writing an under the sea poem using the five senses to describe what it would be like. For example I can see…, I can hear…, I can smell…, I can taste… & I can touch…
• Create your own alien, label it and write some sentences to describe it. Try to use adjectives. The story ‘Here Come the Aliens’ by Colin McNaughton might give you some good ideas. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=here+come+the+aliens+you+tube&docid=607998782893654359&mid=5E7B39704458F5B3A37C5E7B39704458F5B3A37C&view=detail&FORM=VIRE
• Design and build your own train using lego or junk materials.
• Make an under the sea picture.
• Draw the magic train and all of the characters.
• Find out information about jungles, under the sea and outer space.
• Read stories set in a wood, eg The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson
• Draw a magic wood and write some sentences to describe it.
• Draw or paint a tree and add different things growing on it, eg cakes, presents.
• Make some cakes and write instructions to explain how to do it.
Have fun!
We are continuing to practise our phonics and are currently revising all of the Phase 5 sounds. These are ay, ou, ie, ea, oy, ir, ue, aw, wh, ph, ew, oe, au, ey and split digraphs a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e & u-e.
In Maths we are continuing to follow White Rose Maths. We are working on week 10 lesson 1 Ordering Numbers, lesson 2 Recognising Coins, lesson 3 Recognising Notes and lesson 4 Counting Coins. Here are the links for the learning presentations and worksheets.

Don’t forget to let us know how you are getting on.
Take care
