After many months our shrubs from The Woodland Trust finally arrived. Most of the children in the school have had the chance to go out and help plant some.
We have a range of shrubs growing and we are really pleased with how they are looking.
Thank you to everyone who helped to plant them out and we look forward to seeing them grow.
We had a real treat today in nursery when Rob from Zoolab came into school with his friends! He brought with him: snails, a spider, a frog, 2 rats, cockroaches, stick insects (which we didn’t have time to see) and a snake.
We ALL loved it and lots of the children were really confident in stroking and holding some of the animals.
As part of British Science Week 2022 we have been looking at ‘Growth’. The children have been looking at and talking about some puppies which have recently been born in one of our families households. We looked at how much they have grown in just a couple of weeks. We’ve also talked about animals and how their young can look very different when they are first born.
A ‘Tooth Teacher’ (oral hygienist) came in too and talked about teeth and how we have to look after them as even though we grow, the teeth don’t! The children were able to answer lots of questions and have understood ways in which they can care for their teeth.
We also planted some cress and the children have been watching it grow at home. Layla is growing impatient thought as she wants it for her egg sandwiches!
Although these might take a little longer to grow we have been planting some shrubs, if you get a chance ask your little one to show you where they are!
Finally we have been having a great time looking at baby photos and playing ‘Guess Who.’
One of our pupils had a lucky escape last week whilst out riding his bike. Yousuf was racing down a very steep hill and when he was nearing the bottom he lost control of his bike and somersaulted off. Luckily he was wearing his helmet! Yousuf’s mam has given us permission to share the images of his injury and the damaged helmet to show you all how lucky he was to be wearing his helmet and hopefully encourage more of you to insist on your child wearing a helmet when on a bike or scooter.
Here he is wearing his new helmet.
Last week Nursery took part in a fantastic Yoga lesson led by the lovely Laura. The children were absolutely brilliant and we are all excited about the next lesson. Laura read us the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and we were able to follow Laura making shapes with our bodies. My favourite bit was using the materials to steady our breathing and then the relaxation section!
In nursery this week and next we are celebrating Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the Tiger 🐅
We’ve made lanterns, used chopsticks to pick up noodles, written in Chinese and listened to the story of ‘The Great Race’. Next week there’ll be even more fun. 🇨🇳
It has been lovey to see everyone back in nursery this week and all of the children have remembered our routines really well. We have loved hearing about some of the things the children have done over the winter break. Here’s one of our pupils trying to weigh a pineapple!
We know that you haven’t really had the chance to see what nursery is looking like lately so we’ve done a little video so you can have a quick tour!
We received this wonderful video of one of our nursery pupils reading a book to her baby sister. I think you’ll agree that it is brilliant.
