Carol the dental nurse came into school today to educate us on how to keep our teeth healthy.
It was very interesting and we learned a lot about how to look after our teeth. Carol told us that we should try to minimise the amount of sugar that we have and she explained the importance of snacks between meals being sugar free.
It is British Science Week this week.
The theme is ‘Growth’.
We have started the week by planting some cress seeds. Each group will get the chance to do this over the course of the week.
Other activities from the science week booklet include:
Growing the pattern: paint printing repeating patterns, thinking about how the pattern is growing.
Things that grow: observational drawings of things that grow outside.
On Friday the 18th of March, all staff and pupils are encouraged to wear non-uniform, fancy dress or their pyjamas. This is for a suggested donation of £1 and all proceeds will go towards making a difference to people’s lives. For more information follow the link to the official Red Nose Day website. Watch this space for Friday’s photos!

We received this wonderful video of one of our nursery pupils reading a book to her baby sister. I think you’ll agree that it is brilliant.
Another important event in the Ashley Primary School calendar is Children in Need. This will take place on Friday 19th November. It is a non uniform day and we welcome any donations towards the charity that you are able to make but this not essential.

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week this year is One Kind Word. The week will begin with Odd Socks Day. We would like all of the children to come to school wearing odd socks to show we’re ALL unique and different. We want to emphasis the importance of being kind to each other and respecting each other’s individuality.
Throughout the week the children will be talking about different types of bullying, what to do about it and how we can spread kindness around the school. We will even be singing a song about it!
